The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a ₹10,000 bonus, a special ‘Maha Kumbh Seva Medal’, and a seven-day leave for 75,000 police personnel who worked tirelessly during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made this announcement as a gesture of appreciation for their efforts in maintaining law and order at the massive religious gathering.
Recognition for Sanitation and Health Workers
Apart from the police, the government has also acknowledged the efforts of sanitation and health workers. They were awarded gifts and ₹5 lakh health insurance certificates under the Swachh Kumbh Fund, recognizing their crucial role in keeping the event clean and safe.
Special Arrangements for Maha Kumbh
The Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the biggest religious events in the world, attracting millions of devotees. To facilitate participation, the UP government declared a public holiday on January 14 (Makar Sankranti). Additionally, schools, colleges, and offices were closed on February 2 and 3 to manage the massive crowd.
Huge Budget for Maha Kumbh
Both the central and state governments have made significant financial contributions for the event. The central government sanctioned ₹2,100 crore, releasing the first installment of ₹1,050 crore. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh government allocated ₹5,435.68 crore to ensure the smooth execution of the grand festival.
This large-scale initiative by the government highlights its commitment to making the Maha Kumbh Mela a safe, well-organized, and memorable event while recognizing the dedication of those who contributed to its success.
