Ceasefire Breached: Pakistan Opens Fire Along LoC in Poonch, India Responds Firmly

Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir |

Tensions flared up along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district after the Pakistani Army opened unprovoked fire, violating the ceasefire agreement in place since 2021, Indian Army sources confirmed.

The incident occurred in the Krishna Ghati sector on April 1, when a mine blast took place near a Pakistani patrol team. Following the blast, Pakistani troops fired across the border, breaking the ceasefire understanding.

According to Indian defence officials, the Indian Army responded swiftly and effectively, maintaining control over the region. “The situation is under control. Our troops continue to dominate the LoC,” an Army source said.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported on the Indian side.

2021 Ceasefire Agreement Under Strain

This marks one of the rare violations since the February 2021 agreement, when both nations’ Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO) agreed to uphold ceasefire commitments and resolve issues through dialogue to avoid escalation.

The Indian Army has stressed the importance of respecting these commitments to maintain peace and stability along the sensitive border.
