Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Diwali message to the nation, extended warm greetings to citizens while reflecting on India’s achievements, from military triumphs to socio-economic progress. Drawing parallels between Lord Ram’s righteousness and India’s spirit, he said the country not only upheld justice but also “avenged injustice” through the successful Operation Sindoor, carried out in response to the Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.
“This is the second Deepavali after the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Lord Shri Ram teaches us to uphold righteousness and gives us courage to fight injustice. We saw a living example of this a few months ago during Operation Sindoor,” the Prime Minister wrote in his letter.
A Diwali of Triumph and Transformation
Calling this Diwali “particularly special,” PM Modi said lamps would be lit for the first time in districts once dominated by Naxal and Maoist insurgencies. “These are the districts where terrorism has been eradicated from the root,” he said, describing it as a symbol of how India’s light of progress has reached even its most remote corners.
He added, “In recent times, we have seen many individuals abandoning the path of violence and joining the mainstream of development, expressing faith in the Constitution. This is a major achievement for the nation.”
Economic Growth and Reform Momentum
Amid these achievements, the Prime Minister highlighted the country’s ongoing economic reforms. He mentioned the ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ (Savings Festival) launched during Navratri, where lower GST rates were implemented. “Citizens are saving thousands of crores through these reforms,” he said, adding that these efforts align with India’s trajectory to become the third-largest economy in the world in the near future.
The Spirit of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’
Reinforcing his long-standing vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India) and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (Self-Reliant India), Modi urged citizens to embrace the philosophy of ‘Swadeshi’ the use of local products and proudly proclaim, “This is Swadeshi!”
“Let us promote the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat, respect all languages, maintain cleanliness, and prioritize health. Let us reduce oil use in our food by 10% and adopt Yoga. These small steps will rapidly move us toward a developed India,” he said.
A Message of Unity and Light
PM Modi concluded his letter with a call for collective harmony and compassion. “Deepavali teaches us that when one lamp lights another, its brightness does not diminish but grows further. Let us light lamps of harmony, cooperation, and positivity in our society,” he wrote, extending his heartfelt greetings for a joyous and prosperous Deepavali.
