Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) ceremonially hoisted the saffron Dharma Dhwaj at the newly completed Ram Temple in Ayodhya, marking a major milestone in the temple’s construction.
Mr. Modi unfurled the right-angled triangular flag 10 feet high and 20 feet long featuring a radiant Sun symbolising Lord Ram’s valour, an ‘Om’, and the sacred Kovida tree. The ceremony was attended by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said,
“Today, Ayodhya is witnessing another pivotal moment in India’s cultural consciousness. This flag-hoisting ceremony, celebrating the pinnacle of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, is unique and ethereal. Siyawar Ramchandra ki Jai.”
“A New Era Begins,” Says Yogi Adityanath
Chief Minister Adityanath described the event as the beginning of a new era for Ayodhya and for the country.
“The grand temple of Lord Shri Ram is a symbol of faith, respect and the self-pride of 140 crore Indians. Today is dedicated to the struggle and sacrifice of saints, warriors and devotees who devoted their lives to this movement,” he said.
He added that the occasion coincided with Vivah Panchami, making the celebration even more auspicious.
Mr. Adityanath further noted that the saffron flag at the temple stands for “religion, dignity, truth, justice, and national spirit.” He said the ceremony reflected a “synergy of development and heritage” in New India.
Ayodhya Immersed in Devotion
Earlier in the day, Ayodhya saw massive crowds as pilgrims streamed into the city ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival. Chants of “Jai Shri Ram” echoed across the temple town as devotees celebrated the sacred Dhwaj Arohan ceremony regarded as a moment of historic fulfilment.
During his visit, PM Modi also offered prayers at the Ram Darbar Garbh Grah, the Ram Lalla Garbh Grah, and visited the Saptmandir, Sheshavatar Mandir and the Mata Annapurna Temple.
