A late-night accident involving a rare Lamborghini Revuelto on Kanpur’s VIP Road has sparked widespread attention not just because of the injuries caused, but also due to the extraordinary machine involved. The supercar, reportedly driven by Shivam Mishra, son of Kanpur-based tobacco businessman K.K. Mishra, is among the most exclusive and powerful road cars ever sold in India, with a price tag exceeding ₹8.89 crore.

According to police and eyewitness accounts, the accident left at least six people injured and caused extensive damage to vehicles and public infrastructure. The incident has reignited concerns around reckless driving, alcohol consumption, and the dangers of unleashing ultra-high-performance vehicles on crowded urban roads.

The Accident: A Chain Reaction on a Busy Road

The crash occurred on Kanpur’s VIP Road, a stretch known for both traffic density and high-end vehicle movement. Eyewitnesses told police that the Lamborghini was travelling at an extremely high speed when it first rammed into an autorickshaw. Moments later, it smashed into a parked Royal Enfield motorcycle, flinging the rider several feet into the air.

The motorcycle reportedly became lodged under the Lamborghini’s front section and was dragged along the road before the supercar finally came to a halt after striking an electric pole. Emergency responders rushed to the scene as injured pedestrians and riders lay scattered across the road.

One of the seriously injured victims, identified as Taufiq Ahmed, suffered severe leg injuries and was admitted for emergency treatment. Others sustained fractures, bruises and head injuries. Police seized the Lamborghini from the spot and launched an investigation into allegations that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Authorities have said further action will be taken once medical and forensic reports are reviewed.

A Supercar Unlike Any Other on Indian Roads

The Lamborghini Revuelto is no ordinary luxury vehicle. Introduced globally in March 2023 and launched in India in December the same year, it represents a turning point in Lamborghini’s history. Priced at ₹8.89 crore (ex-showroom) before customisation, it is the brand’s flagship model and successor to the legendary Aventador.

Only a handful of units were allocated to India, and Lamborghini has already confirmed that the model is completely sold out globally until at least 2026. That makes the Revuelto one of the rarest and most exclusive cars currently registered in the country.

Unveiled ahead of Lamborghini’s 60th anniversary, the Revuelto is the company’s first High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV), blending a traditional naturally aspirated V12 engine with cutting-edge hybrid technology.

Design and Engineering Built for the Track

Visually, the Revuelto stays true to Lamborghini’s aggressive DNA, featuring a sharp wedge-shaped silhouette, angular body panels and extensive use of carbon fibre. The car employs a carbon-fibre fuselage and frame, making it lighter and more rigid than its predecessor while enhancing safety and handling at extreme speeds.

Every element of the car’s design is performance-focused—from aerodynamic vents and active rear wings to low-slung proportions engineered to maximise downforce.

But it is what lies beneath the bodywork that truly sets the Revuelto apart.

Power That Demands Respect

At the heart of the Revuelto is a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, an increasingly rare configuration in the era of downsized turbocharged motors. On its own, the engine produces 825 horsepower and 725 Nm of torque.

This is supplemented by three electric motors two mounted on the front axle and one integrated with the gearbox powered by a 3.8 kWh lithium-ion battery. Combined, the system delivers a staggering 1,015 horsepower and 807 Nm of torque.

The result is supercar performance taken to extremes: the Revuelto can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds and has a claimed top speed of 350 kmph. These figures place it among the fastest road-legal cars in the world.

Why Public Roads Are No Place for Recklessness

While the Revuelto’s advanced electronics, hybrid assistance and stability systems are designed to enhance control, experts warn that no technology can compensate for irresponsible driving—especially on public roads shared with pedestrians, two-wheelers and slow-moving vehicles.

With immense power delivered instantly, even minor throttle inputs can translate into dangerous speeds. In urban environments like Kanpur’s VIP Road, where traffic conditions are unpredictable, such performance leaves little margin for error.

Road safety experts stress that supercars require not only skill but restraint. Alcohol impairment, if proven in this case, would significantly increase the risks posed by such a vehicle.

A Larger Conversation on Accountability

Beyond the immediate investigation, the incident has triggered a broader debate around ownership responsibility, enforcement of traffic laws and the need for stricter checks on high-performance vehicles in Indian cities.

While luxury car ownership has grown rapidly in India, infrastructure, enforcement and driver training have struggled to keep pace. Incidents like this highlight the consequences when extreme performance meets everyday roads without adequate safeguards.

As police continue to investigate the Kanpur crash, attention remains firmly fixed on ensuring accountability both for the accident itself and for how such machines are handled in public spaces.

The Lamborghini Revuelto may represent the pinnacle of automotive engineering, but the incident serves as a stark reminder: extraordinary power demands extraordinary responsibility.
