The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a monumental cash reward of ₹51 crore for the Indian women’s cricket team following their historic triumph at the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup.

Confirming the announcement, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia told ANI on Monday that the gesture reflects the board’s immense pride in the team’s achievement at the DY Patil Stadium on Sunday.

“BCCI is elated and, without touching anything from the ICC’s prize pool, we are awarding ₹51 crore to the Indian team. This will be shared among the players, selectors, and the support staff led by head coach Amol Muzumdar,” Saikia stated.

The announcement comes on top of the ICC’s increased prize purse for the tournament. Before the competition began, ICC Chairman Jay Shah had confirmed a significant rise in prize money, with the winners receiving USD 4.48 million (approximately ₹42 crore) a massive jump from the USD 1.32 million awarded to Australia’s women’s team in 2022, and higher than the USD 4 million won by the Australian men’s side in 2023.

India lifted their maiden Women’s World Cup trophy after defeating South Africa in a thrilling final in Navi Mumbai, marking a new era for women’s cricket in the country. The team’s triumph has been hailed across the sporting fraternity as a milestone moment for gender equality and Indian sports excellence.
