Mumbai: A bomb threat note discovered on board IndiGo flight 6E-5324, travelling from Jaipur to Mumbai, caused panic on Monday evening — but was later declared a false alarm after thorough investigation.
The Mumbai Airport Police registered an FIR against an unidentified person on Tuesday for issuing the threat.
What Happened Onboard
According to the FIR, the incident took place on April 7 during the flight, which departed from Jaipur at 7:05 PM and was expected to land in Mumbai around 8:30 PM.
During the journey, a 19-year-old air hostess, Bhumika Joshi, found a note placed on the galley table. The handwritten message reportedly read:
“Open it… Surprise, a bomb is waiting for you, not a joke.”
The flight crew immediately followed safety protocols, conducting an internal search of passengers’ belongings but found no suspicious items onboard.
Emergency Response & Investigation
The pilot alerted air traffic control, and the aircraft landed safely at Mumbai International Airport Terminal 1 at 8:50 PM. Once the passengers disembarked, the bomb detection squad and airport security agencies conducted a full sweep of the plane — no explosives were found.
The airport administration confirmed that it was a hoax, but an FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the law. Police are currently working to identify the source of the threat.
Aviation and Passenger Safety in Focus
While the threat turned out to be false, authorities emphasized that all such incidents are taken seriously and dealt with under strict legal provisions. Such acts not only disrupt flights but also pose serious risks to passenger safety and public trust.
