A bomb threat email sent to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay’s residence in Chennai on Thursday has been declared a hoax by police. The threat triggered immediate security checks by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and local authorities, but no explosives were found.
The cybercrime wing has launched an investigation to trace the source of the email.
This incident follows a series of false bomb threats in Chennai targeting high-profile figures, including Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Governor R.N. Ravi, actress Trisha, and BJP headquarters Kamalalayam — all of which were confirmed to be hoaxes.
Authorities have registered cases under the IT Act and relevant penal codes, urging citizens not to spread panic.
