A 50-year-old sanitation worker in Chennai confronted and thrashed a biker with her broom after he allegedly exposed himself near the Adyar bridge on Monday morning. The incident, which was captured on camera, has prompted a police investigation.

According to officials, the woman was performing her morning cleaning duties when a man wearing a helmet stopped his motorcycle in front of her. As she approached to ask him to move his vehicle, he allegedly unzipped his trousers and attempted to expose himself.

Shocked, the woman reacted instantly, hitting the accused multiple times with her broomstick before he sped away on his bike.

“I thought he was like a child, maybe a college student. But when I went closer, he pulled down his zip. I was shocked, but I started thrashing him,” the worker told local reporters.

CCTV and dashboard camera footage of the incident has been handed over to the Chennai Police, who have begun a probe to identify and trace the accused.

The sanitation worker said similar incidents had occurred in the past and urged authorities to ensure better safety measures for civic workers, especially those assigned to early morning shifts.
