A young couple living together in Bengaluru’s Jigani area near Anekal were found dead in their rented home on Monday evening, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Seema Nayak (25) and Rakesh Nayak (23), both hailing from Odisha. According to officials, Rakesh was employed with a private security firm, while Seema worked at a local supermarket.
Preliminary investigations suggest the couple may have died by suicide two days earlier. The incident came to light after neighbours reported a foul smell and noticed no movement inside the locked house for several days. Upon breaking open a window, residents found the couple dead.
Police sources revealed that the couple had frequent quarrels, reportedly over Rakesh’s alleged alcohol addiction. A friend who shared the accommodation with them left the house on Friday following one such argument. Investigators suspect that Rakesh may have taken his own life after the altercation, and Seema possibly followed soon after.
Authorities have registered a case and are awaiting postmortem reports to confirm the cause and sequence of deaths.
