Fact Check: No, the Girl on Parle-G Biscuit Packet Is Not a Real Person

Published:

A viral social media post claims that a real girl’s image was used on the iconic Parle-G biscuit packet without the family’s consent. However, this claim is completely false.

The child shown on the Parle-G wrapper is not based on a real photograph — it is an illustration created by Everest Advertising in the 1960s and has remained a part of the brand’s identity ever since.

A Facebook user named Payel Das shared a post claiming that a woman from Bihar had alleged that her daughter’s image was used on the Parle-G packet without permission or payment.

A simple keyword search led to credible reports confirming that the Parle-G girl is an artistic creation, not a photo of any real child.

A report by Storyboard18 states that the Parle-G baby is a widely recognised illustration created by Everest Advertising’s creative department in the 1960s to appeal to children.

An older report by the Economic Times (October 2013) also confirms that the image is not based on a real child.

Adding further clarity, Mayank Shah, Vice President of Parle Products, stated:
“The kid on the cover of Parle-G is just an illustration made by Everest Creative in the 60s. This is not a photo of anyone.”

The viral claim is false. The girl on the Parle-G wrapper is an illustration, not a real person or based on any real child.
