A video showing American singer Lady Gaga kissing a woman who shouted at her is being widely shared online, but it is being misrepresented. In reality, the clip is from the filming of an upcoming movie, not a real-life incident.
The video shows Gaga climbing a flight of stairs when a woman yells, “You are going to hell!” Gaga then turns around, walks back, and kisses the woman on the mouth. Many social media users praised Gaga’s response, while others mistakenly claimed the video showed an assault.
However, the video was shot on the set of Joker: Folie à Deux, the highly anticipated sequel to the film Joker. Lady Gaga stars in the movie as Harley Quinn, opposite Joaquin Phoenix as the Joker.
The woman in the video is not a random heckler. She is Jennifer Lamb-Hewitt, a professional actress and stunt coordinator. Lamb-Hewitt confirmed to Reuters that the moment was a scripted scene:
“In the spring of 2023 I was cast in an acting role that required me to receive a kiss from the amazing Lady Gaga,” she said.“The scene was great fun to film, and a wonderful experience. As a proud parent of pansexual young adults, this opportunity was an honor.”
Despite these facts, the video continues to circulate on platforms like Facebook and Instagram without proper context, misleading viewers.
Verdict
The video is not of a spontaneous encounter or real-life protest, but a fictional movie scene from Joker: Folie à Deux.
