The sudden and tragic death of Om Prakash, a retired Director General of Police (DGP) of Karnataka, has sent shockwaves through the police and civil services community. The 68-year-old former IPS officer was found dead with stab injuries at his residence in HSR Layout, Bengaluru on April 21, raising serious concerns of foul play.

According to police officials, the body was discovered by his wife Pallavi, who alerted authorities. Om Prakash’s body was found lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor of their three-storey home.

Additional Commissioner of Police Vikash Kumar Vikash confirmed that a weapon was used in the assault, resulting in significant blood loss.

“There is clear evidence of physical assault. An FIR is being registered, and the investigation is underway,” he said.

The former DGP’s son has filed a complaint, prompting police to begin questioning close family members, including his wife and daughter. Preliminary reports suggest the possibility of a domestic dispute, with references to ongoing property-related tensions within the family. Some sources also claim that Om Prakash had earlier shared concerns about threats to his life with close associates.
