Independence Day 2025: Har Ghar Tiranga 4.0 Turns Patriotism into a Digital Movement

Published:

As India marks its 79th Independence Day, the tricolour is not only flying high on rooftops but also lighting up mobile screens across the country. The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, launched in March 2022 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, completes four years this month with its latest edition — Har Ghar Tiranga 4.0.

This year’s campaign goes beyond physical celebrations, encouraging citizens to volunteer as digital ambassadors, share Tiranga selfies, and narrate personal stories of patriotism online. The Ministry of Culture’s initiative has already mobilised over 20 million participants ahead of August 15.

From Selfie to Social Unity

Since August 2, volunteers nationwide have been guiding communities on flag-hoisting etiquette, helping upload photos, and collecting stories. They will receive official certificates and digital badges.

“Digital campaigns bring together millions virtually, making the celebration more inclusive,” says Saurav Bhaik, CEO of Tagbin.

Adding a creative touch, DigiHaat (under ONDC) and MyGov are allowing users to buy mini Tirangas online and take part in storytelling contests through poems, artworks, and reflections.

The campaign’s digital success is evident — over 60 million Tiranga selfies were shared in both 2023 and 2024. Citizens like Vikas Ambwani, a teacher from Kota, and Richa Mathur, a mother of two, say the campaign has turned flag-hoisting from a rare act into an annual family tradition.

Ride with Pride in Pune

In Pune, Radisson Blu, Hinjewadi is marking Independence Day with a ‘Ride with Pride’ event alongside the Harley-Davidson Owners Group (HOG). Around 70 Harley-Davidsons will participate in a flag-hoisting ceremony, promoting both patriotism and road safety. “Our event will be shared widely online to inspire conversations about unity and responsibility,” says GM Amit Raman.

From Kashmir’s hills to city streets, from railway stations to apartment balconies, the tricolour is uniting citizens both offline and online. This Independence Day, Har Ghar Tiranga 4.0 proves that patriotism is no longer confined to parades and speeches — it now thrives in every home, every hand, and every pixel.
