India Closes Border with Pakistan After Deadly Kashmir Attack

Published:

New Delhi — After a deadly terror attack in Kashmir’s Pahalgam that killed 26 people, India has taken serious action against Pakistan. These steps include closing the main border, sending Pakistani diplomats back, and even suspending a major water-sharing agreement.

 What India Did:

  • Closed the Attari-Wagah border, the biggest land crossing between India and Pakistan.

  • Told Pakistani officials in Delhi to leave the country immediately.

  • Suspended the Indus Water Treaty, a 64-year-old agreement that helps share river water between the two countries.

  • Ordered some Pakistani visitors to return home within 48 hours.

Why This Happened:

The Indian government believes that a terrorist group called Kashmir Resistance was behind the Pahalgam attack. Although Pakistan has denied any involvement, India suspects that the group may be receiving support from within Pakistan—such as weapons, shelter, or funding. India has made similar accusations against Pakistan in the past.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said:

“Those responsible will be punished. Our fight against terrorism will only get stronger.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh added:

“We won’t just go after the attackers, but also those who planned this from behind the scenes.”

Pakistan’s Response:

Pakistan said it is sad about the loss of lives and expressed sympathy, but denied any involvement. Its top security council is meeting to decide how to respond to India’s actions.

🏔️ Kashmir Locals in Shock:

Locals in Kashmir are heartbroken. This area is known as “heaven on Earth” and is popular with tourists. Hotel owners said such an attack on visitors hasn’t happened in over 30 years.

“We never thought something like this could happen here,” said Akib Chaya, a local hotel owner.

This incident has made the already tense relationship between India and Pakistan even worse. Tourists, locals, and people across India are grieving and angry. The future of Indo-Pak talks, travel, and water-sharing may now change.
