India has agreed to a “conditional ceasefire” with Pakistan following four days of intense military exchanges, but key sources confirm that there is no rollback on diplomatic and strategic actions, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty.
🇮🇳💥🇵🇰
This development follows high-level backchannel discussions, reportedly initiated by Pakistan, and comes amidst pressure from international stakeholders including the United States.
💬 What India Said:
At a press briefing, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated,
“Pakistani troops have been observed moving into forward areas, indicating their intent to further escalate the tensions.”
Despite the ceasefire, India’s security posture remains strong. The Ministry of Defence confirmed that three waves of Pakistani missile and drone attacks were successfully neutralized. Indian forces retaliated with precision strikes on key Pakistani airbases and radar systems.
India’s Message: No Compromise on Terror
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reiterated,
“India’s stance against terrorism remains firm and uncompromising.”
He clarified that the ceasefire pertains to military operations only, and India will continue taking necessary actions against terror sponsorship.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri added,
“The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of Pakistan contacted his Indian counterpart to propose a ceasefire, which was agreed upon and took effect from 5:00 PM IST.”
🌊 Indus Waters Treaty Suspension Remains
One of the most significant moves post-Pahalgam attack was India’s decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, a decades-old agreement on sharing water from the Indus River system. India has already begun increasing reservoir capacities and reclaiming river water flow.
A top source stated, “The suspension stands firm. Terrorism cannot coexist with treaties built on goodwill.”
✈️ Damage to Pakistan’s Military Infrastructure
The Indian military conducted targeted airstrikes on multiple sites including:
-
Bahawalpur (Jaish HQ)
-
Muridke (Lashkar HQ)
-
Lahore’s air defence systems
-
Pakistani airbases like Skardu, Sargodha, Jacobabad, and Bholari
Commodore Raghu R. Nair declared,
“Every misadventure by Pakistan has been met with strength, and future escalations will invite decisive responses.”
US Role in Ceasefire
Interestingly, US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire on social media even before the Indian Foreign Ministry, calling it the outcome of a “long night of talks.” Indian sources, however, confirmed that it was Pakistan that initiated the request.
The US has reportedly acknowledged India’s new war doctrine — which treats any terrorist attack as an act of war — signaling broader diplomatic backing for India’s tough stance.
