In a major step towards tackling unemployment, the Jammu and Kashmir government has launched multiple initiatives under Mission Youth, aiming to provide job opportunities and skill development for over 3.70 lakh registered unemployed youth.
Key Schemes to Boost Employment
The government has introduced several programs designed to create sustainable job opportunities:
- Mumkin Scheme (2020-21): Aims to support young people in the transport sector, helping them establish self-employment ventures.
- Tejaswini Scheme (2022-23): Focuses on women empowerment, offering financial and entrepreneurial assistance to help them become self-reliant.
- Parvaaz Scheme (2022-23): Supports students preparing for competitive and recruitment exams, increasing their chances of securing government jobs.
Job Fairs & Skill Development
Over the last three years, the J&K government has organized 246 job fairs, resulting in the placement of 4,893 candidates in various sectors. These fairs attracted 2,760 companies, which recommended 6,640 individuals for skill training and career advancement.
To further assist job seekers, the administration has set up permanent facilitation centers in every district. These centers provide career counseling, skill training workshops, and networking opportunities with potential employers.
