In a major step towards making rural governance more inclusive and accessible, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhashini, the National Language Translation Mission under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). The signing ceremony took place on June 19, 2025, at the Constitution Club of India Annexe, New Delhi.
Language Inclusion for Grassroots Democracy
The collaboration aims to break language barriers in Panchayati Raj governance by integrating AI-powered translation technologies into MoPR’s key portals and platforms. This partnership is expected to empower Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and strengthen participatory democracy by making governance accessible in local languages.

Bhashini’s advanced AI-enabled public digital infrastructure will help expand multilingual access to MoPR’s digital tools and outreach programs. This includes improving translation and accessibility on:
