In a shocking case reported from Pune district, police have arrested five individuals in connection with an alleged murder plot to kill a man engaged in an arranged marriage. The prime accused, a woman named Mayuri Sunil Dangde, is currently absconding, police said.
According to senior officials, the incident took place on February 27 in the Khangaon Phata area under the jurisdiction of Yavat police, located in Daund tehsil of Pune district.
Victim Survives Assault, Files Complaint
The victim, identified as Sagar Jaysing Kadam, a hotel cook from Mahi Jalgaon village in Karjat taluka, was recently engaged to Mayuri Dangde from Shrigonda taluka, Ahilyanagar district. The families had even arranged a pre-wedding photoshoot.
Instead of calling off the marriage, police allege that Mayuri, along with an associate, Sandeep Gawde, hired contract killers for ₹1.5 lakh to eliminate her fiancé.
On the day of the attack, Sagar was assaulted near a hotel by a group of men using wooden sticks. He sustained injuries but survived, later filing a complaint and undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Five Arrested; Main Accused Still Missing
After investigation, the Pune Rural Police arrested five suspects:

All the arrested individuals are residents of Ahilyanagar district. Police have also seized a white vehicle used during the attack.
During interrogation, one of the accused, Aditya Dangde, reportedly confessed to his involvement and provided details of the planned assault.
The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to trace and arrest Mayuri Dangde, who is currently untraceable.
