Prafulla Dhariwal, a research scientist from Pune, is leading OpenAI’s latest breakthrough — the Ghibli Studio project, which has already created billions of animated images in just a few days.
Ghibli Studio is an AI-powered tool that transforms user photos and videos into animations inspired by the art style of Japan’s renowned Studio Ghibli. The feature quickly gained global popularity, with India emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets for the platform.
In a video statement, Dhariwal said,
“We knew we were building something special, but the overwhelming appreciation after launch surpassed all our expectations.”
An alumnus of IIT, Prafulla Dhariwal had earlier played a key role in developing OpenAI’s GPT-4o model. His leadership in the Ghibli Studio project marks another major milestone in his growing contributions to the world of artificial intelligence.
