Rahul Gandhi Accuses BJP of Ignoring Dalit Rights, BJP Hits Back

Published:

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has accused the BJP government of having an “anti-Dalit mindset” after it failed to fill two important positions in the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) for over a year. He said that by keeping these posts vacant, the government is ignoring the rights of Dalits.

Rahul Gandhi’s Criticism

Rahul Gandhi questioned why the government had not appointed officials to the NCSC, which is responsible for protecting Dalit rights. He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to immediately fill these positions to ensure justice for the community.

BJP Responds

In response, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi. He accused the Congress leader of being anti-Dalit himself and announced a nationwide protest against him. Athawale also referred to Gandhi’s past comments on reservation policies, claiming that they showed his lack of concern for Dalits.

Why Does This Matter?

This argument between Congress and BJP highlights a larger issue in Indian politics—how different parties handle Dalit rights and reservations. The debate over representation, justice, and equality for Dalits remains a key topic in Indian politics, with both parties blaming each other for neglecting marginalized communities.

With elections approaching, such political clashes are likely to continue, as both Congress and BJP try to win the support of Dalit voters.
