A beautiful statue of Sri Ramoji Rao, one of India’s greatest media pioneers, was unveiled at Ramoji Film City on his first death anniversary. The statue, crafted from silica, honours the visionary who built a media empire and inspired generations.
The event took place at the Ramojirao Memorial Park inside the Film City, where senior members of the Ramoji Group, family, and friends gathered to pay tribute.
A Grand Tribute to a Legend
The ceremony began with floral tributes from top members of the Ramoji Group and family, including Group CMD Ch Kiron, Margadarsi MD Ch Sailaja Kiron, Ramoji Film City MD Vijayeswari, ETV Bharat Director Brihati and many others.
To honour Sri Ramoji Rao’s love for music, children from the Telugu reality show ‘Padutha Theeyaga’ sang his favourite bhajan, ‘Vaishnava Janato’.
Famous veena player Phani Narayana also performed soulful pieces, creating an emotional atmosphere.
The Statue That Felt Alive
A highlight of the event was the unveiling of Ramoji Rao’s statue at the corporate office — the very place where he once led his company.
His grandchildren — Sahari, Sohana, Brihati, and Divija — had the honour of unveiling the statue. Many attendees said it felt as though Ramoji Rao himself had returned and was watching over them.
The statue was made by Gombe Mane Company of Bengaluru. Master sculptor Sridhar Murthy, who had never met Ramoji Rao, created the figure using only photographs and videos. His work was praised by the family for its lifelike detail.
A Spirit of Giving Lives On
In keeping with Ramoji Rao’s philanthropic values, the Ramoji Group donated ₹10 lakh each to the Akshaya Patra Foundation, UNICEF, and the Red Cross — a fitting way to remember a man who always believed in giving back.
Sri Ramoji Rao’s vision continues to inspire not just the media world, but anyone who dares to dream big.
