A devastating fire that broke out in the early hours of Wednesday claimed the lives of six members of a family in Indore, raising serious concerns about fire safety in residential areas. Preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze may have originated from an electric car that was being charged outside the house, though authorities have stated that the exact cause will be confirmed only after a detailed forensic examination.
According to police officials, the fire rapidly engulfed the two-storey residence owned by businessman Manoj Pugaliya, leaving little time for occupants to react. The incident was reported around 4 a.m., prompting an immediate emergency response from local authorities.

“Several cylinders exploded after the fire broke out, which accelerated its spread and made rescue operations extremely challenging,” said Santosh Singh, Police Commissioner of Indore.

Victims Trapped Inside
Authorities believe that the family members were asleep at the time the fire started, which delayed their response. A critical factor that may have prevented their escape was the failure of the house’s electronic locking system.

In addition to the fatalities, three individuals sustained serious burn injuries and were rushed to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital for treatment. Hospital authorities confirmed that the injured are currently receiving medical care.
