Trump Labels Pahalgam Attack ‘A Bad One,’ Urges India and Pakistan to Resolve Tensions Independently

In response to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that claimed 26 civilian lives, U.S. President Donald Trump described the incident as “a bad one” and emphasized that India and Pakistan will resolve the situation between themselves.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Rome, Trump said,

“They’ve had that fight for 1,000 years in Kashmir… That was a bad one yesterday; over 30 people. I’m very close to both India and Pakistan. But they’ll figure it out one way or the other.”

The Pahalgam attack, carried out on April 22, targeted tourists in the Baisaran Valley. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility. The attack is considered the deadliest since the 2019 Pulwama strike.

India has responded by taking strong diplomatic steps, including suspending key agreements, expelling Pakistani diplomats, and halting visas for Pakistani nationals. Pakistan, on the other hand, has denied involvement and retaliated by closing its airspace to Indian flights and ending trade ties.

International concern is growing as tensions escalate between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. While Trump has refrained from offering mediation, global leaders have urged for calm and dialogue.
