Trump Urges Israel and Hamas to Seal Gaza Peace Deal, Rebukes Netanyahu for ‘Negativity’

Published:

US President Donald Trump has reportedly urged both Israel and Hamas to finalize a peace agreement to end the two-year-long Gaza conflict, expressing frustration with the slow pace of negotiations and what he called “negativity” from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to reports by Bloomberg and Axios, Trump phoned Netanyahu over the weekend to celebrate Hamas’ apparent readiness to release hostages as part of a phased peace plan. During the conversation, Netanyahu allegedly dismissed the offer as meaningless prompting Trump to snap back, saying,

“This is a win. Take it.”

Trump, who has positioned himself as a mediator in the region, posted on Truth Social that talks have been “very positive” and that he expects the first phase of the deal to be completed this week.

“All parties must move quickly. This is the moment for peace,” Trump wrote, signaling mounting impatience with both sides.

While diplomatic efforts continue, Israeli forces remain in a defensive stance in Gaza City, where airstrikes have reportedly killed dozens. Hamas has accused Israel of escalating attacks despite the ongoing talks.

Analysts say the renewed push for a deal follows weeks of quiet U.S. engagement aimed at reducing civilian casualties and facilitating hostage releases.

If successful, this deal could mark the first major breakthrough in Middle East diplomacy since the 2021 ceasefire collapse. Yet, skepticism remains high amid entrenched distrust between the two sides — and with both leaders facing political pressure at home.
