Trump Warns Hamas: Release Hostages or Conflict Will Restart

Published:

Washington

President Donald Trump has warned Hamas that the current truce with Israel will end if the group does not release all remaining hostages by noon on Saturday. Speaking to reporters after signing executive orders at the White House, Trump made it clear that the situation could get worse quickly.

“If they’re not here, all hell is going to break out,” Trump said,

expressing concern that some of the hostages may already be dead. However, he also added that the final decision would rest with Israel, stating, “I’m speaking for myself. Israel can choose to ignore it.”

Why the Hostage Release is Important

Hamas has delayed releasing the hostages, claiming that Israel has broken parts of the agreement. The Israeli military has raised its alert levels, preparing for possible renewed fighting if negotiations fail. The hostages remain a key factor in whether the current temporary peace—one of the longest pauses in the 15-month-long conflict—can hold.

Trump’s Plan for Gaza: A Bold and Unpopular Idea

Beyond the truce, Trump has sparked global criticism with his controversial idea of the U.S. “owning” Gaza. He recently suggested that Palestinians should not have the right to return to their homes and instead be relocated to safer areas—possibly in Egypt or Jordan.

Trump described his vision of Gaza as a future development project, calling it the “Riviera of the Middle East.” He hinted at long-term American control of the territory and even suggested that U.S. troops might be needed to secure it. However, he also insisted that American taxpayers would not fund Gaza’s rebuilding.

Arab Nations Reject Trump’s Proposal

Trump’s remarks have faced strong opposition from Arab nations, particularly Egypt and Jordan. Both countries firmly reject the idea of accepting Palestinian refugees, fearing that it could permanently change regional demographics and increase security risks.

A senior Hamas official, Izzat al-Rishq, dismissed Trump’s plan as “ridiculous,” saying it reflected a complete misunderstanding of Palestine and the Middle East. He criticized Trump for treating the conflict like a real estate deal, stating that the Palestinian people would never accept forced relocation.

What Happens Next?

The next few days will be critical in determining whether the truce holds or fighting resumes.

  • If Hamas does not release the hostages, Israel may restart military action in Gaza.
  • Trump’s “ownership” proposal has already increased tensions in the region.
  • Arab nations are closely watching, with fears that the conflict could spread to neighboring countries.

As the world waits for Hamas’ response, one thing is clear—Trump’s approach to the Gaza crisis is unlike anything seen before, and its consequences could reshape the region for years to come.
