Two Terrorists Gunned Down in Failed Infiltration Bid Along LoC in J&K’s Kupwara

Two unidentified terrorists were killed as the Indian Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, officials confirmed on Saturday.

According to the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, the encounter unfolded in the Keran sector late on Friday night following specific intelligence inputs from multiple agencies about possible infiltration attempts from across the border.

“Alert troops noticed suspicious movement near the LoC and challenged the infiltrators, who retaliated with indiscriminate gunfire,” the Army said in an official post on X (formerly Twitter). “In the ensuing exchange of fire, two terrorists were neutralised by the security forces. Search operations in the area are still underway.”

The operation is part of heightened anti-infiltration measures put in place ahead of winter, as militants often attempt to cross the LoC before heavy snowfall blocks traditional routes.

Senior officials said the identities and affiliations of the slain terrorists are yet to be ascertained. Weapons and ammunition recovered from the site have been seized for further investigation.

This marks the latest in a series of infiltration attempts in north Kashmir, where the Army has intensified surveillance and patrols along the border to prevent the movement of militants into Indian territory.
