Universal Studios to Open India’s First Indoor Theme Park in Delhi-NCR: What to Expect

Published:

New Delhi l

Big news for entertainment lovers! Universal Studios, the global name behind some of the world’s most popular theme parks, is all set to open its first indoor theme park in India — right here in Delhi-NCR.

The park will be built in Aerocity, near Indira Gandhi International Airport, as part of a massive new 3 million sq ft mall being developed by Bharti Realty. About 300,000 sq ft of this space will be dedicated to the new theme park, making it a landmark attraction for the region.

The project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.

Why an Indoor Park?

Delhi’s weather can be extreme, from scorching summers to monsoons and chilly winters. Having an indoor, climate-controlled theme park means that visitors can enjoy the fun year-round, no matter the weather.

This gives Universal Studios an edge over traditional outdoor parks, making it a reliable attraction for families, tourists, and even corporate groups.

Boost for Tourism and Jobs

The new Universal Studios park is part of Aerocity’s fast-growing urban hub, which already has over 6.5 million sq ft of built space, to reach 17 million sq ft.

The mall and entertainment complex is projected to generate more than ₹5,000 crore in annual rental revenue.

The park itself will create thousands of jobs across various sectors:

  • Operations

  • Hospitality

  • Retail

  • Logistics

  • Entertainment

It will also help position Delhi-NCR as a major global tourist destination, attracting both domestic and international visitors.

Growing Demand for Indoor Entertainment

Currently, India has about 6.6 million sq ft of indoor entertainment space spread across 523 locations. This market is expected to expand to 11 million sq ft by 2028, thanks to:

  • Rising disposable incomes

  • Growing mall culture

  • Increased demand for immersive, high-quality leisure experiences

Why It Matters

This marks a major milestone in India’s entertainment scene, bringing the Hollywood magic of Universal Studios to Indian audiences for the first time.
It’s a smart move that combines world-class attractions with a design that works perfectly for India’s climate — and it promises to deliver fun for all ages.
