In a major crackdown, Uttar Pradesh Police have registered multiple cases against individuals accused of sharing and selling objectionable videos of women pilgrims from the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. Authorities are working closely with social media platforms, including Meta, to track down the origins of these posts and prevent their further circulation.
The police have identified two social media accounts responsible for uploading explicit videos of women bathing at the religious gathering. Legal action has been initiated, and investigations are underway to nab those involved. Officials have warned of strict consequences for anyone found spreading offensive or misleading content related to the Maha Kumbh.
Meanwhile, in a separate case, journalist Kamran Alvi and another individual were arrested for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Hindu deities and the Maha Kumbh on social media. Their comments triggered outrage among devotees, leading to swift police intervention. Both have been booked under legal provisions aimed at preventing religious disharmony.
In another disturbing incident, an FIR was filed against a man named Sabir Hussain from Bareilly after a video surfaced online where he allegedly made inappropriate remarks about women attending the Kumbh. He has been charged under Section 353 of the BNS Act for spreading false information.
With millions of devotees participating, the Maha Kumbh is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. Authorities have ramped up social media surveillance and urged the public to report any content that could harm the dignity of pilgrims. Police have assured that those responsible for such acts will face strict legal action to maintain the sanctity and security of the event.
