The future of Hera Pheri 3 remains uncertain as actor Paresh Rawal has unexpectedly walked out of the film, leaving fans and team members shocked. In an emotional revelation, director Priyadarshan shared that Akshay Kumar had tears in his eyes after hearing the news.
“Akshay asked me, ‘Priyan, why is Paresh doing this to us?’ with tears in his eyes,” said the filmmaker in a conversation with Mid-Day.
Contracts Signed, Teasers Shot Then…
According to Priyadarshan, everything had already been finalized. The core trio — Akshay, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal — even shot a scene and a teaser during the IPL campaign just ten days before the fallout.
“All our contracts were signed. We had all agreed to do Hera Pheri 3, and then Akshay even bought the franchise rights. That’s when Paresh backed out, unexpectedly,” he said.
Legal Trouble Brewing?
There are reports that Akshay Kumar, now the owner of the Hera Pheri franchise, has taken legal action against Paresh Rawal, allegedly suing him for ₹25 crore due to breach of commitment.
Priyadarshan supported the move, saying:
“Akshay shouldn’t suffer financial losses because Paresh walked out on a whim. I understand if he needs to take legal steps.”
“He Could’ve Just Called”
The director, who recently completed another film titled Bhooth Bangla with both Akshay and Paresh, expressed hurt over not being informed personally.
“Paresh and I have been friends for years. He could’ve at least called me before announcing it to the media,” he added.
While some rumours suggest that Paresh Rawal quit due to a lack of importance for his character, he has denied any such creative differences. Priyadarshan backed Akshay, saying:
“In all my years working with him, Akshay has never cut anyone’s role. He respects the director’s vision and never interferes.”
