Maharashtra Government Launches Online Portal to Track Pre-Primary Schools Nearby

Published:

Mumbai:
In a move to simplify school tracking for parents, the Maharashtra government has launched a unified online portal that offers detailed information about pre-primary schools across the state. The platform, inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is designed to make it easier for parents to access verified data about early education centres near them.

What the Portal Offers:

Parents will now be able to:

  • Search for nearby pre-primary schools

  • View school websites and enrolment figures

  • Check facilities like number of toilets, staff strength, and availability of CCTV cameras

  • Get insights into schools’ inclusivity, like the enrolment of children with special needs

  • Find out if schools have playgrounds, water tanks, and basic infrastructure

Why This Matters:

Until now, only anganwadis (managed by the Women and Child Development Department) were tracked. Private pre-schools operated largely unregulated. School Education Minister Dadaji Bhuse said,

” The portal aims to bring all private and public pre-primary institutions under one digital roof, creating transparency and aiding future policy-making.”

NEP 2020 in Focus:

This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, which expanded its scope to children aged 3–6 years. Maharashtra is now steadily working toward implementing NEP reforms in early childhood education.

This new digital system is expected to bring much-needed clarity to parents and help the government monitor pre-school standards better.
