Uber has started testing this service in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai. The company plans to expand it to 35 more cities, including Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Pune soon.
How Does ‘Uber for Teens’ Work?
- Parents or guardians can set up an Uber account for their teen.
- They can track live trips, limit the number of rides, and even opt for audio recording during trips.
- Teens can request rides from their own devices, but parents stay in control.
- In India, parents must add a debit or credit card to invite a teen. However, once set up, any payment method, including cash, can be used.
- Teens can also travel with other teenagers, but details about how consent works are still unclear.
- Uber will conduct extra background checks on drivers handling teen rides to ensure safety.
